About Apps for Democracy:
Once we've collected insight from our DC neighbors, talented citizen technology developers will compete to win prizes for the best possible community portal that collects service requests from the city's 311 API.
If one individual or team wins first place in round 1, round 2 and the final round they are guaranteed $16,000.
DC Office of the CTO (OCTO) will have the option to award a Technology Community Grant administered by iStrategyLabs for a total of $14,000 over a 9 month period for further development and support of the winning application.
iStrategyLabs will also provide mentorship, marketing support and introductions to angel investors/VC's to aid in the commercialization process if the application that wins is of sufficient promise.
